About Camp<\/span><\/h2>\n

Located at 5,000 ft. in the stunning Stanislaus National Forest, Camp Hi-Sierra has been a beloved destination for Scouts since 1949.\u00a0<\/span>The North Fork of the Tuolumne River flowing through camp provides an endlessly enjoyable soundtrack.<\/span><\/p>\n

The privately owned property has a rich heritage, from Miwok Indian summer dwellings and early homesteads to the Cold Springs sawmill site for the Standard Lumber Company. The Council purchased the camp\u2019s 100 acres in 1949 for only $10.00, from Edward Jenness, who owned more than 5000 acres along with the old Mono Toll Road just above camp along the present Highway 108. The first regular camping season, though small, was in 1949. From that summer to the present, Camp Hi-Sierra has proudly passed on the common thread of purpose and method that runs through every part of the Scout camping program to those first campers\u2019 staff and their children.<\/span><\/p>\n
